Active Ingredient: 1140g/litre dichlorvos
Chemical Group: Organophosphate
Formulation: Emulsifiable concentrate
Compatibility: Compatible with most commonly used fungicides and insecticides. Incompatible with highly alkaline materials.
|
WARNING: May be harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. May cause eye and mild skin irritation. Suspected carcinogen. May cause neurological symptoms (See ‘Symptoms of Poisoning’ below) from repeated ingestion at high doses. Very toxic to aquatic organisms, terrestrial vertebrates and terrestrial invertebrates. |
|
ECOTOXICITY: VERY TOXIC TO AQUATIC ORGANISMS. DO NOT contaminate an aquatic environment with chemical or empty container. DO NOT spray over, or allow drift to drift over, an aquatic environment. Divap must not be applied onto or into water. DO NOT allow drift outside the target area to occur. Spray must not be applied in an area where bees are foraging. |
|
HANDLING PRECAUTIONS: EQUIPMENT: Apply using calibrated and maintained equipment in accordance with the NZ Standard for the Management of Agrichemicals (NZS8409). Divap must be applied via ground-based methods only. STORAGE: Store in original container tightly closed and in a locked, dry, cool, well ventilated area, away from foodstuffs. Storage must be generally in accordance with the NZ Standard for the Management of Agrichemicals (NZS8409). SPRAY DRIFT: The person applying the substance must not cause adverse effects beyond the boundary of the treated property, and must also avoid adverse effects from spray drift occurring. Mitigation measures employed must be recorded as part of the application records. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE (PPE) AND RESPIRATORY PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (RPE): Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhalation of vapour or spray mist. When mixing or applying, wear chemical resistant overalls, chemical resistant boots and gloves, chemical resistant footwear plus socks, chemical resistant head gear, eye protection and respirator (organic vapour and particulate matter). Clean protective clothing daily after work. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using. Remove protective clothing and wash hands and face thoroughly before meals and after work. Avoid handling, mixing or use of the product or container near heat, flame or other source of ignition. Do not use near air vents or ducts. Apply with well maintained and calibrated spray equipment. THIS PRODUCT IS VERY TOXIC TO BEES. Do not apply this product to any plant or tree likely to be visited by bees: a) At the time of application; or b) Immediately after application until spray has dried; or c) In areas where bees are foraging. SPILLAGE: Wear appropriate protective clothing and prevent material from entering waterways. Absorb spills with inert material and place in waste containers. Wash area with water and absorb with further inert material. Dispose of waste safely, according to local Council regulations. CONTAINER DISPOSAL: Do not re-use empty container but triple rinse and add residue to spray tank, and then return to an AgRecovery depot for disposal. Avoid contamination of any water supply with chemical or empty container. |
SYMPTOMS OF POISONING: These may include any of the following: excessive sweating, headache, weakness, faintness, giddiness, nausea, stomach pains, vomiting, small pupils, blurred vision and muscle twitching.
FIRST AID: If swallowed, or if any of the above symptoms occur, call a doctor immediately. If symptoms of poisoning are occurring give one atropine tablet every ¼ hour until the pupils enlarge, or use an automatic injection device according to instructions. Take to hospital without delay. Remove contaminated clothing and wash affected areas of skin. If concentrate is splashed in eye, flush with running water for at least 15 minutes. For advice, contact the National Poisons Centre on 0800 POISON (0800764766).
SPILLAGE: In case of accidental spillage damp down with sawdust or other absorptive material then sweep up and bury in a safe landfill. Wear protective clothing. Use absorbent material to prevent the spread of the spillage. Block drains if possible. Sweep up contaminated material and place in drums for disposal in a manner acceptable to the appropriate authorities. For major spills, the Fire Service should be informed immediately, followed by local Health Protection Officers.
Divap is an organophosphate insecticide with strong contact and fumigant action against a wide range of insect pests of importance in public health and agricultural and horticultural crops. For use indoors against household pests (trained operators only) it has a “flushing” effect, with a limited residual activity.
WITHHOLDING PERIODS: Asparagus: 1 day; Strawberries, persimmons: 2 days; Passionfruit, tamarillos: 7 days; Other fruit and vegetables, cereals: 3 days; All livestock from treated areas: 1 day.
COMPATIBILITY: Divap is compatible with most insecticides and fungicides, but should not be used in conjunction with strongly alkaline materials such as Bordeaux mixture or lime sulphur.
